OPU Statement on the Yorubaland Security Stakeholders Summit

The Oodua Progressive Union (OPU) proudly participated as a key stakeholder at the Security Stakeholders Summit, “Towards a United Front Against Insecurity in Yorubaland,” held in Lagos on December 8, 2025.

Convened by the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams, and other Yoruba leaders, in partnership with over 33 socio-political and self-determination groups, the summit sought collaborative solutions to insecurity.

OPU fully supports the strategies and leadership of Iba Gani Adams in combating insurgency, banditry, and kidnapping. We endorse the summit’s resolutions, including state police, the ban on open grazing, strengthened borders, community-based intelligence, security welfare, and restructuring for true federalism.

As a committed stakeholder, OPU reaffirms its solidarity with traditional rulers, governments, security agencies, and Yoruba organizations in promoting lasting peace and stability in Yorubalan
